… grey clouds, heavy rain and unexpected hailstorms.
… red cheeks and cold noses.
… scarves and beanies and boots.
… cuddles on the couch.
… fleece blankets and flannel sheets.
… Christmas.
… glasses of hot, mulled wine.
… popcorn and movie nights.
… pastel sunsets.
… fierce northerly winds.
… apple-cinnamon scented candles.
… deserted beaches.

Now I know that not everyone fancies winter but it is hard not to love a season that provides a respite from the blazing heat of the sun. I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas and I continue to wish you the very best during the rest of this festive season. May all your winters be mild, with bursts of sunshine and plenty of rainbows.
Can I pick my faves off your list? :)
ReplyDeleteGlasses of hot, mulled drinks and popcorn and movie nights. That made me feel red with coziness! I send you my very best for Christmas and the incoming year, my dear friend!
It is nice to have a season with some cloudy days to get a break from the hot sunlight.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family!
Dear Loree....I can appreciate every word. As you well know, just the slightest drop in temperature is cause to celebrate. Autumn and winter will always be my favourite seasons...in the northern hemisphere. A girl can dream... Wishing you a wonderful New Year...I look forward to sharing another one with you!

ReplyDeleteI love this time of year too. There's just something "magical" about winter. Our Christmas was quiet and spent at home. I am not looking forward to the New Year!

ReplyDeleteI love California winters, they're mild. This part of the state has Mediterranean weather pattern so you know how nice winters are.

I'm trying to imagine the delightful island scenes of Christmas on your island. It sounds so wonderful...and I agree...winter is such a wonderful respite from those scorching days of summer. I love it. Happy New Year to you!
ReplyDeleteI made such an effort to not despise winter last year - as much as I usually do and it seems to have worked a little. I will try again this year, but till then, I will always prefer the warm sun xx
