Book Meme

I was about to pass on some rewards tonight but I felt too tired to do all the linking that goes with them. So, like a spoilt child, I have decided to do something easier.
A few weeks ago, Jientje from Heaven Is In Belgium, posted a meme about a book which I thought would be am easy and interesting little post for a late Sunday evening. The rules are as follows:
1. Collect the book that you have most handy.
2. Turn to page 161.
3. Find the fifth complete sentence.
4. Cite the sentence on your blog.

Well I will follow all the rules except the first one since the books that are most handy right now are boring books about pharmaceuticals from my college days. So instead, I have gone with one of my most favourite books: Daphne du Maurier's 'Frenchman's Creek'.

And here is the fifth sentence on page 161:
"You are thoughtful, Dona," said Rockingham, and she, looking across at him, saw that he had laid his book aside and was considering her, his head upon one side, his narrow eyes unsmiling.

Now I am supposed to pass this on to five other bloggers but if any of you want to pick up this meme just go ahead and do it for the fun of it. 'Frenchman's Creek' is one of those books which I have read and re-read. It has a certain appeal and I love du Maurier's style. As for my sentence, did it pique your curiosity or have you all read the book? If you haven't and, like me are a hopeless romantic, then I think that you will enjoy it. It would also be interesting to use that sentence and start a story of your own, especially if you have never read the book. I am sure most of you would come up with some very interesting ideas. So if some of you have nothing to do this week, I have given you two great ideas to fill up your time :) I hope you all have a great week.

  1. I'm probably the slowest blogger when it comes to passing along awards and memes. I must say I'm intrigued by the Frenchman's Creek! I'll look for it next time I visit the library.
