Fabulous Fridays: Pinterest – So What’s The Big Deal?

So what is Pinterest exactly? Well, I have come to think of it as a virtual clipboard. It is a place where you can pin all the beautiful images you see on the Internet without having to save them on your own computer. In a way, it’s a little like creating your own virtual magazine using only images that you absolutely love. You can pin any images you find on the internet to your pin boards (you can create different categories like: travel, food, home décor, photography … anything you can think of, really).

Once you join Pinterest (you have to request an invite but it only took a day for me to get accepted, or if you prefer, you can ask me for an invite) you can start pinning. Any photo that you pin is automatically credited to the site is was taken from – so it saves you having to link back to the original site. You can also post photos that you have taken yourself and posted to your blog or website. Of course, like all social networking sites, you can follow other people’s pin boards and they can follow yours. It seems that many people are getting the Pinterest bug. At first I thought that this wasn’t for me because the last thing I need with my tight schedule is to be following PinBoards. But then I thought about it again and I decided that it was a great way to keep track of the things I love without using up valuable memory on my own PC. Somehow, that sold me. What about you? Do you think you will eventually give in to the Pinterest bug too

  2. I have another blogging friend who enjoys Pinterest. I'm like you were at first, hesitant...just not sure it's for me, that it would be time consuming and take away from my blogging and mail art activities, but it sounds interesting, Loree.

  4. I don't know if I'll go for Pinterest. Like you, time will be crunched in 2 weeks when school begins. I have the hang of Twitter, have just begun hearing about Bing, and can't figure out StumbleIt. I feel like technology is moving one step ahead of my pace!
